An interesting trend I've noticed in the younger generation especially. (Coming from a person that tries to resist every urge to say kids these days)

Lots of young kids are only comfortable talking about liking or dedicating themselves to something only do it if there is a sense of irony attached to it. In TikTok, for example, putting out music, art, or skills in any particular domain is accompanied by a satirical tone. Like, "I'm only doing this to make fun of others that do this."

I think people are scared to put out interests for the fear of being judged by it. However, talking about your interests with a sense of irony protects you from possible criticism. It's as though there's an abundance of doing something that is posturing to the world, instead of just doing it for the sake of doing it. We should do things for the sake of doing them more.
