Alby question from a non-technical user, what does the security of Alby depend upon?

I remember reading about metamask vulnerabilities (never went that road myself), is Alby better?

I’m mistrustful of anything in a browser, especially as a Windows user, but I’m not sure on what peg to hang my hat, as it were.
