The fact that video surveillance is so common means we have to assume we could be watched at any time and moderate our behaviour accordingly. Whether it is cameras in the street, surveillance inside buildings, or even the bad habit of whipping out your phone to film what's going on around you, surveillance structures what feels possible.

But cameras aren't unbeatable, and there are ways to fight back against them. It just takes a bit of preparation, notably getting over the ways we internalize surveillance and restrict ourselves more than it actually has the ability to enforce.
