Got a Wheel of Time book and the cashier was like "Wheel of Time? Aw man it's such a slog," and I was like "Yeah I'm not a huge fan but all my friends are into it." Then the guy got a fucking spark in his eye, and a terrible devilish smirk "You should try Brandon Sanderson, The Way of Kings," and he winked, and I was trying so hard to be nice but some part of me took over and I immediately snapped back like "HE'S NOT FOR ME" and I wasn't rude but there was a definite hint of raw passionate hatred for Sanderson in my voice and the cashier was all dejected like "Yeah... fair enough... he's not for everyone..." I felt so bad that I quietly blurted out "I mean I respect him he's good at plotting and stuff..." but at that point the cashiers heart was already shattered. He just dejectedly said "Yeah," and gave me my book.
