#OTD 24 August 1800 Lena Stina Ekström was born at Nässjö, Björsäter parish, Östergötland, Sweden. Her father, the crofter Eric Andersson, was my first ancestor to take the surname Ekström. Lena Stina was the second of 15 children born to her father and his two wives. Her mother died the day after her 13th birthday. As the oldest daughter, no doubt she took on a lot of responsibility before her father remarried. She died from measles a few months before her 21st birthday.
