I run most of my services on my physical machines, but this isn’t a service that I may want to run locally. Open groups are better when they are hosted on a centralized instance, because that’s the best way of maximizing discoverability and the likelihood of finding new people who share the same interests. Running Guppo locally only makes sense when you want to create small and controlled cross-instance groups.
And, like with all services that are best when centralized, I can only imagine how the costs increase over time. Let’s all play our little part in keeping these good ideas alive.
