Bakunin was against what he called 'terrorism' and instead favoured community self defence. This is often parroted in anarchist circles. What I think Bakunin never made clearer, and what many modern anarchists take for granted, is that when your community is being threatened externally by global warming by big oil companies, self-defence against those companies will be called 'terrorism' by people who do not share anarchist viewpoints.
