I have a simple but to some folks still surprising hack for dealing with peer review reports: every time you write a longer explanation as a reply to the reviewer, it should go into the text of the paper. If a reviewer did not understand or misunderstood it, some other reader will have the same problem, too.
Took me a while to get here. Mainly multiple cases of telling authors whose reviewer I was to just add what they wrote to me to the actual paper ...
