Having just received a day's worth of racist abuse for writing about white supremacy, I now have seen firsthand that Mastodon can in fact be worse than Twitter in this regard.

I used to run my mouth on Twitter a fair bit about controversial stuff, so I'm no stranger to abuse waves. But for the level of exposure I got, I saw way more abuse here than I've seen there.

I have some theories as to why, and I'll be looking into them. But I should be clear it's not the server I'm on! The admins are smart and sincere and were working to get rid of it. I appreciate their trying to keep things sane and safe.
