It's okay to take one step at a time. That's already better than many people who don't try at all.
You have to find motivation. Motivation is driven by purpose. Purpose comes from a story.
What is your story? I think that's the first step. You have to literally create a fantasy in your head, and then live by it.
Mine is an epic adventure. But even the quest for a simple and happy life is valid. You just have to envision it and never forget it.
