I try to avoid any gadgets that need connection to a smartphone app for usage now. There’s usually little chance it will still be supported in 5-10y, the mobile ecosystem is not great at backward compatibility, and we’ve seen thousands of apps dying with each big change, even from big companies. Apps are the new “pc drivers” but it’s incredible hard to find replacement once they die.
