Oh, another thing that might help people using a UNIX(/Linux) system is that they treat basically everything equally as "a file".
This is why there is no separate "rename file" command (as e.g. DOS has the "ren" command) but instead you just "move" a file equally to how you "move" a directory with the "mv" command.

I said "basically everything" because networking (by default) isn't treated as "a file".
The same group that made the original UNIX fixed that inconsistency in their sequel operating system named "plan 9" where everything is a file (last I tried it), but UNIX had already gotten too well known so you can probably ignore that plan.

This is also why if you enter the command "ls" and tell it to list something that is a directory, it will list to you the contents of that directory, not just list that directory per se.
You can tell if to list the directory itself with "ls -d" (see, calling them "directory" as they initially were called has benefits :-), not just for remembering the DOS command "dir" for listing contents of the "dir"ectory).
