The problem isn't that racists hate immigrants/minorities.

The problem is that it's super easy, barely an inconvenience really, to make normal people hate immigrants/minorities.

The other problem is that hateful people are almost a cheat code for winning elections so politicians do their best to make everyday normal people do all the otherizing they can.
