Washington DC is not a city of steep inclines, and so lacks the proliferation of sidewalk staircases found in, say, San Francisco or The Bronx. Two exceptions are Georgetown's famous Exorcist Steps (so named for its historically lethal effect on members of that profession) and Kalorama's less known Spanish Steps, built in 1911 and shown here.
