I've gone through pretty much the same.. wanted to try 3D printing but not spend a lot of money on it, so I grabbed an Ender3 clone in 2019. It turned out a rather high maintenance project (clogs, worn out bearings, cable fatigue), but so far I've gone through about 50kg (100lbs) of PLA and it's still working. Only recently started considering an upgrade, mostly because current models are so much faster and more accurate. I don't like Bambu for their filament roll ID crap though.
