Profit is bullshit, and that is OBVIOUS.
You hire me (a carpenter) to build you a bookcase. So I quote you: MATERIALS and LABOR. Materials are obvious. How do I get FED? By charging you for my TIME and EFFORT.
We shake hands on the agreed amount. Done deal. You get your bookcase and I get paid.
Where does PROFIT come from?
NOWHERE. PROFIT is "gimme MORE than what the bookcase is worth." How is that justified? It's NOT, is the point. The best you could do is say
* I'm the only carpenter in town [monopoly]
* I'm the BEST carpenter in town [in which case I should comparison shop and cut you out of not only the excess income but the entire job to begin with.]
A hires B. Both know what taxes are in their society. Any pursuit of PROFITS means "I don't want to have to 'suffer' for having fairly paid my way", or back to NOT ONLY DO I GET PAID, but I GET OVERPAID, and you've broken the social contract, because why should A overpay B for ANYTHING? Or more to the point, if B is so arrogant as to demand excess from A, A is just as entitled to charge a fee for SUBSCRIPTION, namely, "YOU should pay ME to be your customer", and we're back at net-zero.
You didn't read the "profits" placard, because you're not answering what the placard said, which is what I've also said above. Show me WHAT profits are if they are not gratuitous bullshit as I claim, and then show me how profits are NECESSARY for the economy to function. I'm sure your answers must be "I can't" and "they aren't", but that will take you some time to digest.
Why not read something about how those who pay high taxes feel about paying high taxes. I predict you will see mostly "the taxes are high but they're worth it", whereas you discount without reflection how your life might change if you lived where they lived. You see taxes as your being personally ripped off, which is untrue.
Holy shit Batman, you got cancer and now your (private) medical bill bankrupts you. In a Socialist society, the burden does not fall only on you. AND nobody else BENEFITS from your having to pay.

The market will do what we want it to. "Market function" is not a God, the market is not God, and free markets don't exist. Capitalism must die, if for no other reason that it wants us to believe lies to the contrary of what I said just above. Menger/Hayek/von Mises/Rothbard/Friedman/Rand can all go fuck themselves: if money is not in service to all humankind, then it's illegitimate.

Really, I shouldn't have to repeat myself. To "taxes are a market distortion" I said "so what it they are, show me what is the actual Damage." As I said, "market function" cannot override "human happiness". So aww poor baby market, you are so distorted, "tell me of your pain." There is NO PAIN until HUMAN BEINGS are impacted.
"Socialism Lite" is how I have survived into later age. What I see is True Benefits, and that's in a country hostile to its citizens.
