Remember, the vast majority of viewers of the Trump/Biden debate are firmly fixed in their positions, and will hear and see everything through the filters of that. The ones who are for Biden will think he does great, the ones who are for Trump will similarly pick out the places that they can say he did well. This is all about very small slices of truly independent voters on the margins, and especially turnout. That's it.
