I have a strong belief that the average humans is capable of MUCH more than what they’re showing on a day-to-day basis today.
Inside of every person lives the DNA of ancestors who survived millennium-long ice ages, global floods, savage repressions, untold diseases, global explorations of a wild planet, famines, wars and daily perils unfathomable today.
Our ancestors fought the entropy of physical reality and the vast uncertainty that is the human struggle, and somehow, still progressed. The human story is an unbelievable one when you really think about it.
Today I see everywhere people who have become totally disconnected from these facts. They have no appreciation for the struggle of our ancestors. They take for granted the incomprehensible resources and advantages we have at out disposal. Many seem to just want to get by.
That philosophy, the “path of least resistance”, is the ultimate disrespect to ancestry. To not appreciate where we came from and not take advantage of contemporary opportunity.
I use all of this a fuel. Fuel to do better, push myself, to be grateful, and know my existence is somewhat of a miracle. I refuse to be a “path of least resistance” person. I will never disrespect my ancestors struggles like that.
