Most of the people that advocate for proactive de-federation seem to think that it would keep their data from being hoovered up (It won't) or that it would result in advertisements being in their ad-free experience (It won't) or that having an ad-funded entity part of the fediverse would spoil the virgin sanctity of activity pub (It won't). Https://toot.works isn't de-federating proactively.
