Equally, most people are a product of the system in which they live. It's not just a case of "snapping out of it" when you're underwater living paycheck to paycheck trying to survive.

The fiat world has systematically eroded purpose, driven terrible nutrition, kept people out of the sun in soulless office blocks staring at a screen, and also removed the "3rd place" where social relationships thrived.

Personal responsibility most definitely plays a part, but it's not everything. And that is one of my main hopes for bitcoin and FOSS.

Encouraging people to be creative is also a good avenue to finding purpose.
