The analogy I saw someone use that I felt best expressed how I feel is "making mud not exist vs accepting that mud exists". If I accept mud exists, I'm going to put on a pair of boots and some clothes that I use for that purpose, that I can accept getting dirty and worn down. In this case the sandbox is equivalent to putting on rain/mud gear. There's a lot of obstacles to switching languages wholesale for a lot of development stacks and memory safe languages are not always the best tool for the job. But if we accept that the proverbial mud exists, then robust sandboxing needs to exist so we can play/trek through the mud in peace.
