I feel like the politicians have always been there to serve themselves, but they used to have the courtesy to try to at least sell their personas, good kayfabe. The i started to notice lots od closed door meeting, around the time of the Tea Party Patriot movement. I started to notice dems and rinos seemed to feel they didn't need to even bother with kayfabe anymore, and would just refuse to acknowledge questions; debate and sign bills in rapid late night sessions.

The pinnacle of this was the Biden oval office clown show. Again and again they would line the press up before him and they would all SCREAM questions at him while he giggled like the senile old man he is. Then, without saying a word, he would shuffle out of the room.

People who were used to that pageantry are experiencing shock and awe as a bunch of people show up are actually treating this like a real job. This is the kind of change a lot of us were expecting with Obama and got rug pulled.
