I wish the Norse had maintained an outpost in Vinland. Not because I want them to colonize the continent earlier (they'd never be able to), but because medieval Europeans would be forced to treat Indigenous peoples of Turtle Island as semi-equals like the Muslims or the Mongols instead of letting their obsession with military technology give them a god complex. Also, the colonial plagues wouldn't have been as devastating if transmission happened earlier, before Europe's late medieval urbanization.
