I forgot that every Ys game prior to the recent remakes and VIII/IX require you to grind pretty much from the start of the game if you want to get anywhere. You will die to the first boss unless you level up a few times first on the same enemies. It's fucking crazy but the games are so fun that it's worth biting your tongue over. Gonna try giving SEVEN another chance sometime coming up.
