I was sure Steve McQueen died in a motorcycle accident. Like 100% positive. And I watched him in the great escape in the bike scenes at the end of the film thinking that. I only just read on his Wikipedia page that he died of cancer, that's so weird to me, I was so sure it was a bike crash. It seems I'm not the only person who thought it was a crash of some kind.
