For example in the UK we were supposed to at least increase fuel duty on petrol and diesel by inflation. We have repeatedly failed to do so, even cutting it recently.
Fuel duty on diesel in the same as that on petrol, per litre. Energy and carbon is higher per litre for diesel.
So we have used carbon pricing, but in completely the wrong direction, because the gov.t thinks it wins votes.
