I think the whole principle behind it is just an abstract and blurry form of human sacrifice. suppose the story is totally correct that six sigma of people who take a vaccine will be protected from a deadly pathogen and one out of a billion will die from the vaccine, so we are justified in basically killing that person. that's really horrifying by itself, then you add on top of that the possibility that maybe it isn't six sigma and they're just fucking lying too.
