Sounds like a plan, yet fat fighters are much easier to kill if their heart doesn't stop on its own anyway from over fatting, and in addition much harder to remove dead from the battle ground. It's honourable that fatties wanna do their duty, but it's actually better for the side they are fighting on, when they perform other non combat tasks, while training and dieting.
Still i would never send anybody away who is willing to put his life on the line for the right reasons, but getting combat ready is also fulfillment of duty.
