Nightblooming Cereus
"Queen of the Night"
A year ago, a gardener friend gave me a single leathery leaf the size of business card, said "Stick in a pot. It will grow."
And grow it did. By spring, from the pint sized pot, its tendrils probed all corners of the sunroom, looking for trees to climb. A tropical orchid cactus, they normally don't bloom for the first seven years. But a few nights ago, after one year, this one did.
One bloom, one night. A sweet scented extravagant bloom.
