#WritersCoffeeClub Ch 15 Nbr 06 — Do you ever move characters between stories (if, for example, they don't fit into one plot), or are they intrinsic to their story?
Characters are intrinsic to their story. That said, not all stories are unique. If I want to tell a similar story in a different genre, or if I think a character from one story is better placed in another genre, I'll migrate or duplicate the character to where they belong. A character planted in a different story, like a seed, will grow into someone unique. It's also true that not all stories pan out, but even when a story doesn't have merit the characters may, and as such may suggest yet a different story.
