I have been mentioning both Mastodon and Discord to people who are trying to gather in safe secure social media spaces to discuss ways to protect themselves from the evil that is coming to power.
Someone asked me if I was sure that Mastodon and or Discord wasn't as dangerous as Facebook. I assured them that it did not work the same way and should be a secure and safe space but I am not someone who is well versed in techno jargon/technolingo and don't know how to explain to them that these are safer spaces.
If you understand this kind of stuff, and I know some of you do, how would you phrase it? How would you assure people that Mastodon or Discord can be a safe space for people looking to connect privately?
