Though that does transition nicely into how Mastodon is not the Fediverse but rather one of the many frontends through which we interface with it. It's like the whole GNU/Linux stuff but actually holds weight.
On an unrelated note though, I know you daily drive BSD rather than Linux and was just curious on how you would go about setting one up. Managed to get a somewhat serviceable desktop running on FreeBSD but trying to get one to work on NetBSD or OpenBSD was an exercise in patience for the most part.
