This is an idea, a theory, nothing more. Is the empty mempool an inflection point of the hodler? “Retail is still buying on exchanges, the hodlers are running low on cash and maybe waiting for a dip to maybe catch those final cheap sats….. everyone waits……
Then, we have a disturbance, “an event”, liquidity injection, bond yield spikes, whatever scenario THEY cook up (tariff shock?!?!?), price dips, institutions choose that to be the point to pull the plug and buy on chain, the hodlers make their final buy and dollar denominated value gets running. Mempools explode, transaction fees rise and stay high for the foreseeable future.
This doesn’t mean mempools will never clear again, but there will be waves of transactions, as different groups adopt and transaction volumes ebs and flows, but as total volume of users increases so will mean transaction volume. Just a thought, just an idea, just a theory.
