I lean too heavily on this single point but I recall Leger once saying political polling makes up 1% of their revenue. I'm sure it's higher now but will never approach the revenue pollsters get from industry, lobbyists, NGOs.
What Abacus et al get out of it is free advertising every night on the news on CBC & CTV where they are treated as analysts, and daily coverage across all other media.
