Images of real children, casually posted online years ago, are being used to train AI models — even when platforms prohibit scraping and families use strict privacy settings, claims an industry watchdog.

Human Rights Watch (HRW) says it has found images of real children in Brazil and Australia being used to train popular AI datasets, putting children in danger of privacy and safety risks, even when parents thinking they’ve protected their kids’ privacy online.
