People in the US are getting very upset about nonprofits losing their nonprofit status for political reasons. This is bad, of course. But they shouldn't cry wolf. Organizations don't need nonprofit status to thrive. There is even a good argument that nonprofit status shouldn't exist at all. Anyway, the proposal is bad and will certaihnly be abused.
But still, people should save up some fury for when the govt simply shuts down NGOs, as has happened in Russia and Venezuela.
