That said, the author's argument that piracy may be the only way to avoid a digital dark age definitely rings true. As an amateur media archaeologist, I've found that pirated software is much, much more available to us now than anything that was copy protected and died on the media it originally came on.
I do find the search for curiosities on archives of pirated software extremely interesting. Never a dull moment! I'm glad those files were preserved.
