This new price jump on butter is another 30% from two months ago. From about 5.50 to 8.50. It was about 3.50 or 4.00 pre pandemic. I think I got a pound of butter, 500g, a couple months ago for about 4.50.
I think that New Zealand has the most dairy cows vs population of any country in the world. So what is happening?
NZ produced butter is NZD8.50, that is $5.20 USD per pound. NZD 1.70 per 100g. The other brands were around NZD $3 per 100g.
