in my mental canon, the big pause between the release of The Stone Roses' debut album and their second, the appropriately titled "Second Coming", was indeed caused by a years-long lawsuit over the band's five-year contract with Silvertone and their poor treatment of the band, but only because Silvertone had been infiltrated by time travelers from the future bent on making sure The Stone Roses never opened for James in Manchester of 1988 so that then-sixteen-year-old Liam Gallagher would not be able to attend the show and get inspired to start a band.
