Phoenix (npub1gw6…v892) I used to struggle with that too. I kept up the act due to social fomo as well as fear that my job security would be threatened by office politics. I never did get any gratification out of socializing with those people, and also I felt like people were becoming ever less professional at work and negatively affecting my productivity because we were buddies first in their view. Eventually I just dropped the facade because maintaining it was making me miserable. I adopted an attitude of assertive professionalism that alienated people a bit but also won me more deference and respect. It felt good to achieve a sense of control over my work environment. I bring that attitude with me into interviews now and I think it serves me quite well. Maybe that's possible for you too.
