MY EXCLAMATION POINTS!
My life has been defined by 9 significant moments so far. These moments, like exclamation points, show what is important to me. They explain why I am who I am. They tell a story that is worth remembering. They give meaning to an otherwise meaningless life.
I gave my life to Jesus and was baptized while I was in elementary school !
I spent 3 summers involved in teaching at vacation Bible school !
I spent 2 years as an adult leader for the youth at my home church !
I fell in love with my wife then asked her to marry me ! (She said yes)
I proclaimed my love for and commitment to her in front of the whole world; ‘till death do us part !
Our son was born !
Our Daughter was born !
I baptized my son! Wow !
I baptized my Daughter ! Double Wow !!
All the rest of my life has meaning, yes, but it all led up to this. I followed where I thought I felt God leading. There was a reason for all the things that happened, even though I didn’t always understand at the time. I am not perfect. I make mistakes. I let people down. I let myself down. I let God down more often than I want to admit. But here is the beautiful part about all of it.
God loves me just as I am. He uses my weakness to show his strength. He forgives me even though I don’t deserve it; could never deserve it. His grace covers my shame and sin. When He sees me He doesn’t see a broken, worthless, sinner. He sees His son. I am His and that makes life worth living. My parents raised me to know the Lord. Now, my children have the same hope, the same promise. I hope they will pass on this legacy to their children as well.
What comes next? What does God have in store? I don’t know but I am excited to find out…
