There is no incentive for the TSA to do a good job. In fact, if they do their job badly and their security is breached, they will likely receive much greater funding. The incentives here are broken.
Every time I'm in the airport I wonder what the TSA employees think or even if they actually enjoy their job.
More on skewed incentives: Passengers have little to no incentive to feed their face into the camera. You can opt out and it takes no time. Remember this when you see an hour long line ahead of you and everyone is stopping for 15s to have their picture taken.
