It comfortably holds enough stuff including some models. Mine holds a small tub with some tissue paper, some scraps of parchment paper so I can build a mini wet palette everywhere, and a linen baby washcloth I use as recyclable tissue paper for my brushes.

I was thinking of inserting a light strip at the front edge of the lid, but not sure how to go about that.
