I just found out that while Pipeworks, by Playskool, are long gone, Tubelox are a thing, and actually look at least as good as the original, with what may well be an improved locking mechanism that is outside of the tubes, rather than inside, so they don't get knocked out of place and lost inside (which was an issue with Pipeworks). For all you #bitcoiners with little children running around (or about to be running around), you definitely owe it to them and/or yourself to at least look at how cool these things are: https://tubelox.com/
I spent so many hours at my friend's house growing up in forts we built with these things around his SNES, or watching Star Wars movies. So glad to see that while the erector set may be long dead, these are still around. It's not a trivial buy price, but compared to Legos, it's really not a bad deal.
