I found his hyper-fixation on the disgust he feels for his body to be both troubling and distracting.
I wondered, when I read it - and I loved it, and the sequel - whether this would be rather polarising.
As someone who struggles (not a lot, but quite often) with body image weight, I found this detail to be completely relatable and, in a weird(?) but positive way, I rather liked feeling represented/"seen" in the novel.
(And that's fine - two different perspectives on this can happily co-exist!)
