Can someone who understands LinkedIn explain why every post that either contains obvious or obviously wrong content in a picture seems to have a hundred replies that add nothing to the discussion saying either 'Thank you for sharing!' or 'This is so insightful!'?

Does commenting on popular things increase the visibility of your other posts? Or does it increase the visibility of other posts and so groups of people all say 'Wow, this is so insightful' on each others posts to help send spam?
