In my youth it was Vietnam, race riots, and the constant threat of nuclear annihilation (which never really went away!). Trump's victory is really one for the record books, though. My kids are in their thirties, one is gay with a family, both are women, and I am freaking out. I kind of regret reproducing. And then I think of folks in war torn areas and realize we've had it remarkably easy. Being human is so freaking hard. It is never easy for anyone except super rich folks.
