Looks like nukeykt's GUS reverse engineering is already bearing fruit. Emulating a GUS on an FPGA connected to a relatively modern PC's LPC bus: https://github.com/nukeykt/LPC-GUS
This could probably be broken out and used on the MiSTer project which is pretty cool.
