imo price for storage space won't be the problem. You can get a 2 TB SSD for the same price you paid in 2015 for a 500 GB HDD. This trend will continue. If this is a problem, it was one from the beginning of bitcoin.
Throughput on data is maybe the same. We had way less transfer rates, only mbit/s years ago. Now Gbit/s are common. If this is a problem it was one from the beginning.
