i'm leaning into the premise that the biggest success for an artist is to have a community, that they are not completely alone in their work. perhaps this community includes non-artists too. perhaps it doesn't matter.

your audience is a community. they are not customers. they are not numbers.

tho you need numbers - on your bank account - as currently that means basic sustenance, and means of working (basic tools).

but your audience is your community. alive, breathing, beating hearts.
